Magnesium Hydroxide
Neutralization without the overshoot.
Magnesium hydroxide's low solubility is precisely why treatment plants choose it. It cannot drive pH much above roughly 9, so it neutralizes acid steadily and self-limits — where an overdose of caustic soda or lime can spike a discharge out of permit in minutes. It also produces a denser, more easily dewatered sludge.
