Built For Industrial Buyers
We supply the industries where off-spec isn't an option.
Rig time, a pour that has to set on schedule, a discharge permit — the cost of a bad load is almost never the material itself. Mix Minerals supplies five industries across Texas and Northern Mexico that all share the same requirement: what was ordered is what shows up.
Oilfield Service
A drilling fluid only works if its properties are predictable. Barite that comes in under specific gravity forces mud engineers to over-treat and throws off weight-up calculations; bentonite that under-yields means chasing viscosity all shift. The cost of an off-spec load is rarely the material — it's the rig time.
We test drilling-grade barite and bentonite against API 13A before shipment and certify each load, so what your mud engineer plans for is what arrives on location.
Weighting & density control
API 13A barite in both recognised grades — 4.2 and 4.1 g/mL — for predictable mud weight and kill-fluid preparation.
Viscosity & fluid loss
Drilling-grade bentonite meeting API 13A yield, filtrate, and residue requirements.
Contamination treatment
Soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, and hydrated lime for treating out cement, gypsum, and calcium contamination.
Completion brines
Sodium and calcium chloride for clear brine density and shale inhibition without formation damage.
Concrete & Ready-Mix
Cement is the most expensive and most carbon-intensive component in a mix design. Replacing part of it with a quality pozzolan cuts both — but only if the fly ash is consistent. Variable LOI or fineness means variable air entrainment and unpredictable set times, and a plant manager finds out about it at the jobsite.
Our Class F fly ash meets ASTM C618 with consistent LOI and fineness, so your mix designs behave the same way batch after batch.
Cement replacement
ASTM C618 Class F fly ash at 15–30% replacement improves workability, reduces permeability, and lowers cost per yard.
Durability
Pozzolanic reaction densifies the paste over time, improving sulfate resistance and reducing chloride ingress.
Mass pour control
Controlled heat of hydration reduces thermal cracking risk in foundations, mats, and thick sections.
Cold weather & shrinkage
Calcium chloride as a set accelerator and magnesium oxide for shrinkage compensation in specialty systems.
Construction & Civil
Expansive clay subgrades are the quiet budget-killer on South Texas projects. Undercut and replace, and you're hauling material both directions. Build on untreated clay and you're back for repairs after the first wet-dry cycle.
Lime stabilization chemically converts problem clay into a stable working platform in place — and we supply it in the volumes a pad or road job actually consumes.
Subgrade stabilization
Hydrated lime reduces plasticity index and swell potential in clay soils, producing a stable, load-bearing platform.
Slurry walls & liners
Bentonite for slurry wall construction, geosynthetic clay liners, and pond and lagoon sealing.
Dust control
Calcium chloride surface treatment keeps fines bound on lease roads, haul roads, and pads.
Mineral fillers
Calcium carbonate as a filler and extender in mortars, grouts, and specialty construction materials.
Water & Wastewater Treatment
Neutralizing an acidic waste stream with caustic soda is fast — and easy to overshoot straight out of permit. Operators end up chasing pH in both directions, and a discharge excursion is a reportable event regardless of which way it went.
We supply the full range of treatment alkalis, including the self-limiting ones. Magnesium hydroxide cannot drive pH much past 9, so it neutralizes steadily and forgives a heavy hand.
pH neutralization
Magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide neutralize acidity with a self-limiting pH ceiling that resists overshoot.
Softening & hardness removal
Hydrated lime and soda ash precipitate calcium and magnesium hardness in municipal and industrial systems.
Flue gas & acid gas
Sodium bicarbonate dry sorbent injection for SO₂ and HCl capture without wet scrubber infrastructure.
Resin regeneration
High-purity sodium chloride for ion-exchange resin regeneration in commercial softening systems.
Agriculture
The calcareous soils across South Texas and Northern Mexico tie up micronutrients and volatilize surface-applied urea nitrogen before the crop ever sees it. Growers pay for pounds of N that leave as ammonia gas.
Ammonium sulfate does not volatilize when surface-applied, and its mild acidifying effect works with high-pH ground rather than against it — delivering nitrogen and sulfur in one pass.
Nitrogen & sulfur
Ammonium sulfate at 21% N and 24% S, with no volatilization loss on surface application.
Magnesium correction
Magnesium sulfate corrects deficiency fast — soil-applied or foliar — and dissolves readily for fertigation.
High-pH soils
The acidifying effect of ammonium sulfate improves micronutrient availability on calcareous ground.
Feed & amendments
Magnesium oxide as a feed-grade magnesium supplement and soil amendment.
Logistics & Delivery
Cross-border supply, handled.
Based in Eagle Pass on the Texas–Coahuila border, we've spent 14 years moving bulk minerals in both directions. Pneumatic bulk or palletised bags — scheduled to your operation, not ours.
